Kim Snyder is the Director of Food Safety at Monterey Mushrooms, Inc, where she is responsible for policy and continuous improvement in food safety systems at the farm and packing operations in the US and Mexico. She has 33 years of Quality Assurance and Food Safety experience in the food industry, including positions with Borden in Columbus, OH, Kraft Foods in Tulare, CA, and McCormick in Salinas, CA. Kim has a Bachelor of Science in both Nutrition Science and Food Science from Penn State University. She is passionate about the importance of sanitary design in food handling equipment and to this end has collaborated with equipment manufacturers on the optimal design and also worked to educate her company and industry peers. “Food companies often fail to recognize the risks inherent in poorly designed equipment”, Snyder says. Kim is also a member of United Fresh and PMA food safety committees as well as a member of the American Mushroom Institute Food Safety Task Force. She is a graduate of Leadership Salinas Valley, Leadership Monterey County, and the Salinas Community Police Academy. A lover of music, Kim sings with a band that covers the Great American Songbook, the canon of standards from the 1920s through the 1950s. An Ambassador for Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Kim volunteers for events that promote the educational and medical services provided by this vital organization.
